Slovak Data Protection authority plans to check e-shops in 2021

The Slovak Office for Personal Data Protection has published a plan of inspections for 2021.
The inspections will focus in particular on risky activities and operations associated with the use of new technologies and procedures.
Within the public sector, the DPA plans to focus on the control of state administration bodies, especially on the Public Health Office of the Slovak Republic after the processing of personal data through mobile applications designed to monitor compliance with the isolation regulations and contacts with other devices.
Within the private sector, e – shops and controllers who process personal data when selling goods or providing services on the basis of a distance contract will be in the spotlight.
The inspections are planned to focus on:
- compliance with the principles and conditions of lawful processing of personal data;
- conditions for expressing consent;
- conditions for the processing of special categories of personal data;
- conditions for exercising the rights of the data subjects;
- joint controllers, processors;
- processing on behalf of the controller or processor;
- security of personal data;
- data protection impact assessment;
- responsible person.
In 2021, unfinished inspections, which were not completed in 2020, will also continue.
